I have tried a series of wet palettes over the past few years, and this is by far the best. The sponge holds water well, providing a good reservoir for keeping my acrylic paints workable. However, what really sets this palette apart is the membrane. It allows the perfect amount of moisture to wick through to the paint so that it stays wet and usable, but not so much that it loses its integrity. In short, my search for wet palettes has ended. This is the only wet palette I recommend to other painters at this point.

I’ve purchased the lite and regular version – they’re both awesome. The membrane is perfect for allowing paint to remain useable for days. Part of that has to be credited to the complete, secure seal formed when placing the lid back on the palette. Not having to constantly get a fresh palette paper, re-dole out paint onto a fresh palette, etc. can really prevent giving up on a painting session before it begins.

I originally used the Painter Lite wet palette and was very happy with it, but I needed a larger work surface, so I upgraded to the Studio XL v2. It offers the same high-quality experience as the Lite version, just on a bigger scale, which is exactly what I was looking for. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the lid design, it’s noticeably more difficult to open compared to the Lite, which had a smoother, more user-friendly closure. That said, the palette still does a great job of keeping paints wet and workable. A fantastic product overall.

This is by far the BEST wet palette I have used. The soft seal around the edge of the lid really keeps the moisture inside when the palette is not in use, and the sponge is great at holding a lot of water.
I also really love the reusable palette membranes. When I have my membrane all covered in paint, I can simply pull it up, slip it into the inside of the palette cover, and wash all the paint off of it, leaving it ready for my next session.

This thing is fantastic. It’s my favorite wet palette – I don’t even use the others anymore. It’s not too big, so it fits on my desk, it has a nice lid to actually seal in moisture. Nothing has grown in it and I’ve hadit for months. It keeps the paints usuable for about a day so if you get interrupted during painting you can go back. And I haven’t had to change the reusable membrane yet – just clean it as instructed, maybe wipe gently with your finger to get any stuck pigments off, it’s good to go and use again. It makes things very wet so you don’t need to thin, it will thin just from being on the palette. I think as long as you follow the instructions you won’t have any issues with this wet palette.

One of my absolute favorite mini-painting purchases. As a former owner of the Painter Lite Wet Palette, I couldn’t really imagine how they’d improve on such a successful product. The shift away from magnets to a rail system for the palette attachments was a surprise, but one that ended up working out surprisingly well. The air-tight seal on the palette however is the real star of the show. Being able to ignore an elastic band for keeping this palette sealed is such a great addition to the product. My only request is that they perhaps add an airtight “expansion layer” that can go between the palette and the lid where painters could store their brushes and other tools. Having shifted to a silicone palette for inks, washes, and metallics it would be nice to have a spot to store it alongside brushes, files, and utility knives.

My first wet palette, so I have nothing to compare it to, but all I can say is that it works 100% well! I’ve used the reusable membranes for around 2 weeks before washing in between, and it always washes almost perfectly clean. I washed my first membrane for about 3 months and washed it at least 10 times, and even then it would’ve been just fine to continue using it. Very good quality, and absolutely worth the money as the membranes last for so long. Lid is tight and keeps the moisture in, it’s easy to reactivate even a couple days old paints again.

I purchased this wet palette following the advice and reviews of artists. I have no other terms of comparison, but based on my brief experience, I am extremely satisfied with the purchase. The sheets are truly reusable and long-lasting, and with the hermetic closure system, I have not encountered any problems between painting sessions (be careful to reopen it gently to avoid spills). In this case, the saying “the more you spend, the less you spend” applies perfectly. I don’t feel the need to look for anything else. Excellent product.

After few months of use, I always continue to recommend this wet palette. Just the perfect one for me, it maintains paints well, wet but not too much, even after a complete week painting break. The hydration papers are really strong, I can reuse them a couple of time by gently cleaning them before they become unusable. The reusable membranes are insanely good; if well treated, they can be reused for a long time (I tried my first one few weeks ago and already washed it more than 10 times without any issue!) without compromising the quality of maintaining the paints well – wet but not too much!

The short version: Great wet palette, even in very dry climates – but consider the size carefully
Longer version: Overall, this is an excellent product. It holds humidity incredibly well—even in my very dry climate—thanks to the high-quality hydration foam. The foam hasn’t developed any smells or started breaking down even after many uses, which speaks to its durability.
I got the XL version thinking the extra space would be a bonus, and while it definitely offers a large working area, it might be more than I really need. It takes up a lot of desk space, so if you’re tight on room, the standard size might be a better fit.
The reusable membranes are good and work well most of the time. That said, on especially dry days, I sometimes swap them for parchment paper since it’s thinner and allows more moisture to come through. That’s likely just a climate thing, though—your mileage may vary depending on where you live.
All in all, a great investment if you’re serious about your hobby.

For comparison, my friends have bought alternate brands on the market. While the basis of the palette is similar, you can see how Red Grass differentiates from other companies. The paper membrane is superior and is way better than the parchment like paper from alternate brands. The Red Grass container is also designed different. Sponge is extra thick. No mold problems.

Honestly, this pallette blows the competition out of the water, its not even close.
Ive tried many wet pallets because I hadn’t found one that had hit my requirements. I tried options from a lot of the leading competitors, often skirting around the RGG option because so many mini painters were so positive of it. With that much positive buzz, I assumed it was either a paid sponsorship, or that it must be insanely expensive.
Its just earned. This pallette does everything right.
The Membranes in place of the traditional paper are such an upgrade, and I would honestly recommend this palette for them alone. They go on so easily without trapped air bubbles, sliding, creasing, or curling on the corners. And theyre semi-reusable, so you really get a lot of mileage out of them.
The airtight seal keeps moisture in, so if life gets in the way for an afternoon(or a few.), your paints and foam arent going to dry out.
